The census: Make it count

Maurice Mcleod considers why the national census presents such an important opportunity for the voluntary sector.

This month, white envelopes landed on every doorstep in the country because the time has come for census 2011. This once-a-decade count of people and households will gather information about people living in England and Wales. It is crucial to the voluntary sector because the data that is collected influences the issuing of government funds to areas and groups.
