Make the environment your business

No matter where you work, or what sort of sector you are in, there are plenty of ways that you could help make your workplace energy-efficient and more environmentally aware.

GET AN ECO AUDIT

Many environmental charities will come into your workplace and review your energy use, helping to save you money, as well as reduce your carbon emissions.

TURN THE HEATING DOWN

Heating can account for 60% of a business’s total energy bill. Turning the thermostat down just 1ºC will help shave money off your bill without you even noticing.

SAVE PAPER

An office worker uses an average of 20,000 A4 sheets of paper a year, most of which gets thrown away. But every tonne of paper recycled will save approximately 17 trees, 462 gallons of oil and five cubic metres of landfill. Minimise the amount you use by printing and photocopying on both sides.

SET UP A ‘GREEN TEAM’

Without your staff on board or involved, your environmental policies will not be worth the recycled paper they’re written on. Uniting employees together will incentivise the whole organisation to change.
